Witchcraft in the Western Tradition by Jennifer McNabb
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
In episode one (about one minute in) of The Coming Storm "The Dead Body" Gabriel Gatehouse begins to investigate QAnon by recalling an online course "Witches, drawing, and storytelling" with "Louisa Maria Mccormick. Mccormick give context by describing how early in the age of printing, The Malleus Maleficarum and the Construction of Witchcraft: Theology and Popular Belief gave energy to a popular period of bloody witch hunts, despite leading figures decrying it. The implication is the myths from online forums bred with social media is a similar story. This series of lectures tracks from the same book and series of persecutions to delineate a Wester Tradition of prejudice, animosity, and hate unloosed.
